ABC’s crossover experiment paid off big time yesterday. Despite an all-new lineup on CBS (and the season premiere of Survivor), the Alphabet network finished the night with a win in the demos. CBS, though, did place first with the viewers.

Grey’s Anatomy: Do the producers have a thing against blondes? Or sexually ambiguous blondes? Although there was possibility Sadie Harris would be sticking around Seattle Grace for a while, ‘s stint on the show has now ended. The actress - who was originally contracted for at least four episodes - wound up playing intern for a total of eight.

Despite George’s claim that it was her decision to leave the show, sources tell EW that the parting was fairly mutual. (“Melissa’s arc came to a natural end,” reports an insider.) Fortunately for viewers, Sadie’s exit won’t be as random as Erica Hahn’s. “It won’t be a big send-off, but it’s really cool what they do,” George reports.

College football season ended yesterday with a bang. The BCS game on FOX easily gave the network a double win last night. Meanwhile, Private Practice‘s official Thursday debut did well for ABC. The medical drama even bested that other medical drama on NBC.
